Maxime C. Cohen
Assistant Professor
NYU Stern School of Business

I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Information, Operations, and Management Sciences at NYU Stern School of Business.

I received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT in August 2015, a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, and a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering both from the Technion - IIT. In 2015-2016, I was a postdoctoral research scientist at Google NYC in the Google AI team, conducting research across multiple areas including market algorithms, pricing, auctions, cloud computing, and optimization. At Google, I also worked on products related to cloud computing, contracts for online advertising, and Internet domain names. I previously worked in finance as a high-frequency trader and co-founded a private real-estate investment company.

My research lies at the intersection of data science and operations management. More specifically, I am interested in applications such as retail, ride-sharing, airline, sustainability, cloud computing, online advertising, peer-to-peer lending, and social networks. I have collaborated on research and consulting projects with several companies including Google, Oracle Retail, IBM Research, Via (ride-sharing), Cargo, Staples as well as several startups. In each project, I work closely with the company to identify a practical operational problem and develop solutions using tools such as optimization, machine learning, stochastic modeling, game theory, and field experiments.

I am co-organizing the 2019 NYC Operations Day that will take place on March 1 at Columbia University.
