The ABS Language Program offers eight-week courses for students, faculty, staff and their spouses, with a focus on communication through conversation. Taught by trained instructors, the course offers an hour and a half of language immersion every week in small classroom settings of no more than nine students. Business terminology is emphasized at the advanced levels.
The ABS Language Program is available in the Fall and Spring semesters. Classes are typically offered in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Classes in additional languages can be offered if there is sufficient interest. Foreign Language classes are taught by professional instructors from ABC Language Exchange, which was selected in 2004 by New York Magazine's annual 'Best of New York' survey as offering the top Asian Language Lessons in the city. ABC brings highly trained instructors with years of experience to the job to teach language in a dynamic and effective way.
The class schedule varies by semester. To best reflect changing student demand, the ABS Language Program
offers a unique registration process. When registering online, students choose from a select number of
time slots. ABS then creates classes based on student registration. While first choices are not guaranteed,
students will only be placed in a time slot selected during registration.

Mondays: 4:30 to 6:00 pm and 6:00 to 7:30 pm
Tuesdays: 4:30 to 6:00 pm and 6:00 to 7:30 pm
Wednesdays: 4:30 to 6:00 pm and 6:00 to 7:30 pm
Thursdays: 4:30 to 6:00 pm and 6:00 to 7:30 pm

Classes will begin the week of September 22nd and all classes will finish by November 21st.
There are no classes the week of September 29th.

Full payment of $200 for ABS members and $225 for non-ABS members, plus an additional one-time materials fee of $50, is due upon registration. Full payment is due at registration and may be made using American Express,
Mastercard or Visa. Late registration takes place immediate after regular registration is closed and leads up
until the day before classes start or until a class is full. Late registration is an additional $50. Late
registration allows students the chance to add into classes once they have begun forming.
As these are very small classes, individual registration is very important; once the schedule has been
completed, no refunds will be given unless your class or section is not offered. Please note that getting
your second-choice time slot is not an acceptable reason for a refund. There must be a minimum of four
students at the same level for a class to be held.
Full refund: withdrawal before 7pm on Tuesday, September 16th
$100 fee: withdrawal by 7pm Wednesday, September 17th
No refund: once schedule is published on Friday, September 19th
